She includes four critical concepts that most math programs fail to include. Information is applicable to preschool through adult education levels. I bought one for myself, I work with a developmental math program at the community college level, and one for my daughter with a four and seven year old.

An Alien Non Human Perspective Story

The Demon of Cliffside is a very interesting story mostly because I don't know how to classify it.

It is adventure, with some mystery. Yet the main character is so... alien that you can't relate to them. The story kept me guessing and the twists were very unexpected.

The world it builds is detailed and unique. You can see how the world came to be the way it is with the physical laws it has.

I really enjoyed this story and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys their fantasy stories a bit different than usual.

Expansive and engaging

While the opening chapters were a little slow, probably due to the fantastic amount of world building therein, it picked up quickly and, once it hit its stride, held my attention clear through the end. There were a couple of twists I expected and a couple more I certainly had not. Overall, it left me wanting more and I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in fantasy/adventure.

Dr. Gary Rockswold has taught mathematics for 25 years at all levels from seventh grade to graduate school, including junior high and high school students, talented youth, vocational, undergraduate and graduate students, and adult education classes. He graduated with majors in mathematics and physics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Iowa State University. He has an interdisciplinary background and has also taught physical science, astronomy, and computer science. Outside of mathematics, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

this is a pretty nice item esp for a pre teen

this is a nice kit in the form of a hard back book. when you open it up the left side has a plastic covering and within are several tubes of paint and brushes, eraser and a pencil. the right side contains a drawing/painting pad of paper and in front of that is the book itself which actually has the appearance of a small comic book. it has some pretty neat stuff to draw and depicts the stages nicely. it was worth it for sure for my 11 year old nephew. its a cool little kit.

I love all of the Dragonart how-to books. It not only gives you the basics, it gives you advanced ideas, and through out the entire thing you have comments to make it even more fun. Even if you don't use it to help you draw, its still good to just read through and enjoy the art and the humour packed in it.

I bought this book for my niece, a 14-yr old artist who loves dragons. It's perfect for her and she's spent many hours perfecting her craft with the author's help. It's a fair value for the price and I'd recommend it to anyone with a teenager interested in dragons!

This is an excellent book on all kinds of imaging techniques for brain, urologic, cardiac, and orthopedic surgery. US, MR, CT, optical and PET technologies are incorporated in the discussion. The diagnostics, physics, and mathematical modeling are examined in detail. Engineers, physicists, students, and surgeons will find the full color pictures helpful. I highly reccommend this for surgical approaches employed in Minimally invasive surgeries, i.e. to be a guide for mapping and planning.

Hardware and software are included in this textbook. Shifting and changes in positioning require 4D Graphics (x,y,z), and time elements are looked at also.

A very useful book from a classroom perspective

When I wanted to learn C language, the second book I picked up was this same series on C [the first one being K & R, which I read later to comprehend].
This book on UML follows the same tradition of "Teach a concept then give plenty of exercises to practice what you learnt". It includes two case studies also. It also includes a chapter on Real time UML, another on OCL and another chapter on Design patterns. A very good buy for the money (16+ dollars).
Pros: Excellent book for beginners Lots of exercises to practice what you learnt. This can be a first book to read before moving into heavy weights like UML series [from awl] or Booch series [from sigs]. Coverage of Object Constraint Language
Cons: May be taking a case tool like Rational Rose or TogetherJ for implementation, as a side-by-side treatment would have made this book more comprehensive.
Overall I am very much satisfied with this book at a elementary level.
